About Us

Our goal is to help you feel confident that you can understand policy without a background in politics or economics. We aim to be a trusted blog that’s clear, neutral, and well-researched, helping you think more critically about news, laws, and government decisions. We want you to see how policy connects to your real life, including school, money, media, and community issues, so you’ll feel motivated to stay informed, not overwhelmed, and see yourself as a capable participant in civic life, regardless and even before voting age.

Who I Am

I’m a high school student who became interested in policy after realizing how often it’s discussed without being clearly explained, especially to teens. Through internships with organizations like TurnUp and Policy Circle, I learned how public policy shapes everyday life and how powerful it can be when people actually understand it. I started The Policy Breakdown to make policy less intimidating and more accessible, breaking down how it works and why it matters, while helping teens feel informed, capable, and included in conversations that affect them.

Made for teens

This space is designed with teens in mind — using clear, straightforward language and explanations that don’t assume prior knowledge. Each post starts from the questions young people actually have and connects policy to real life, showing how decisions affect school, money, media, and community. The goal isn’t to tell teens what to think, but to help them understand how things work so they can form their own informed perspectives.
